First Finish of the Year

img_1307

This is the first project I’ve started and finished this year.  It’s the Sewrella Easy Beginner Baby Blanket.  It is indeed easy.  And quick because you’re using a bulky yarn.  It’s a simple half double crochet with a single crochet border.  However I decided to do a round of crab stitch after the first row of single crochet for something more to grab on to.

It’s a soft, squishy blanket you could wrap a baby up in.  That being said, I think I want to do another using a P hook instead of the recommended Q.  I think I’d like it to be a little denser.  It’s one of the issues I have with crochet, the open spaces kind of bother me.  I don’t know why, they just do.  Maybe it’s the bulky yarn.  A single crochet would be too dense and a double would be way too loose.  So I’ll take the hook down a size for the next to see how it works out.

Love the yarn, love the colors, just want to tinker with the look a bit more.  My sister says I need to go for finished and stop worrying about perfect.  Nothing is perfect in the world.  Doesn’t mean I can’t try!
